1. Two coins are tossed 500 times, and we get: Two heads: 105 times. One head: 275 times. No head: 120 times. Find the probability of each event to occur. Solution: Let us say the events of getting two heads, one head and no head by E1, E2 and E3, respectively.
2. A tyre manufacturing company kept a record of the distance covered before a tyre needed to be replaced. The table shows the results of 1000 cases. Distance(in km)
3. The percentage of marks obtained by a student in the monthly tests are given below: Test 1 2 3 4 5 Percentage of marks obtained 69 71 73 68 74 Based on the above table, find the probability of students getting more than 70% marks in a test.
4. One card is drawn from a deck of 52 cards, well-shuffled. Calculate the probability that the card will. (i) be an ace, (ii) not be an ace. Solution: Well-shuffling ensures equally likely outcomes.
5. Two players, Sangeet and Rashmi, play a tennis match. The probability of Sangeet winning the match is 0.62. What is the probability that Rashmi will win the match?
6. Two coins (a one rupee coin and a two rupee coin) are tossed once. Find a sample space. Solution: Either Head(H) or Tail(T) can be the outcomes. Heads on both coins = (H,H) = HH.
7. Consider the experiment in which a coin is tossed repeatedly until a head comes up. Describe the sample space. Solution: In the random experiment where the head can appear on the 1st toss, or the 2nd toss, or the 3rd toss and so on till we get the head of the coin.
8. Consider the experiment of rolling a die. Let A be the event ‘getting a prime number’, B be the event ‘getting an odd number’. Write the sets representing the events.
9. A coin is tossed three times, consider the following events. P: ‘No head appears’, Q: ‘Exactly one head appears’ and. R: ‘At Least two heads appear’.
10. If P(A) = 7/13, P(B) = 9/13 and P(A∩B) = 4/13, evaluate P(A|B). Solution: P(A|B) = P(A∩B)/P(B) = (4/13)/(9/13) = 4/9. Related Links. Important Questions Class 9 Maths Chapter 15 Probability.

1. For years, I have been joking with my students that I would teach probability with the same level of excitement even if I were woken up in the middle of the night and asked to teach it. Years later, as a new father, I started writing this book when it became clear to me that I would not be sleeping at night for the foreseeable future. This book is intended for undergraduate and first-year graduate-level courses in probability, statistics, and random processes. My goal has been to provide a clear and intuitive approach to these topics while maintaining an acceptable level of mathematical accuracy. I have been teaching two courses on this subject for several years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While one of these courses is an undergraduate course taken by juniors, the other is a graduate-level course taken by our first-year Masters and PhD students. My goal throughout this process has been to write a textbook that has the flexibility to be used in bothcourses while sacri...

### Which universities offer online statistics courses?

If you want to learn statistics for professional or personal reasons and lack the time to attend a traditional course in a classroom setting, you may want to find an online statistics course. Several universities offer coursework in this area, including Colorado State University, Purdue University and the University of North Carolina Online.

### What is introduction in statistics?

Introductory Statistics is designed for a one- or two-semester first course in applied statistics and is intended for students who do not have a strong background in mathematics. This course makes the subject of statistics interesting and accessible to a wide and varied audience by providing realistic content in examples.

### What is course in statistics?

An applied statistics course is generally intended for individuals majoring in the natural sciences, mathematics, or secondary math education. Students manipulate data and estimate the probability of an event occurring.

### How is probability used in statistics?

Probability is used in mathematical statistics to study the sampling distributions of sample statistics and, more generally, the properties of statistical procedures. The use of any statistical method is valid when the system or population under consideration satisfies the assumptions of the method.
