The Police Academy is housed on the 1st Floor of the main academic building and consists of administrative areas for staff, 9 classrooms (1 designated stadium style seating for up to 60 recruits, 1 - 20-person computer lab, 1 designated for instructional firearms) for annual in-service, first aid, taser and other specialized training.

The next available Citizen Academy is scheduled to take place from September 7 to December 14, 2021. The academy is held on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for 15 weeks. The academy is held at the Public Safety Training Academy located at 8751 Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg.; Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

To pass the program, you must: To be recommended for certification under the provision of Pennsylvania Act 120, you must earn a minimum score of 80 in each program module. The Academy is certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission.
