Jumpmasters are responsible for transforming soldiers who enter Army Airborne School into paratroopers and leading airborne jump operations in airborne units across all branches of services. Jumpmasters make sure each and every paratrooper is proficient at the following airborne operational techniques: Duties of a Jumpmaster include:
Jumpmaster Course Overview: The course is three weeks long and is comprised of a Nomenclature Exam, Pre-Jump Exam, Written Exam, PWAC Exam, and JMPI Exam. Students should study the Nomenclature Study Guide PRIOR to attending the course. The exam will be on Day 2 of the course.
In order to obtain the coveted Jumpmaster rating, an individual must complete a series of requirements. Since 1950, only those in the ranks of Sergeant and above may perform any Jumpmaster duties.
