8 Tips For Nabbing A Spot At Jedi Training: Trials Of The

1. Plan Ahead with an ADR . If the thought of standing in line at Hollywood Studios 60 minutes beforehand, fighting the swelling crowds and trying to push yourself to the front of the turnstile to put you in prime leader-of-the-pack position doesn’t sound great, then why not try a more civilized approach.
2. Arrive at Hollywood Studios at least 60 minutes before it opens. For those opting not to dine on-site, then try to get to the park around 60 minutes early if your are going to be signing up to Jedi Training.
3. Make sure you have the kids with you. When I say get their quickly I don’t mean leave the kids with mom while dad sprints toward the Indiana Jones Outpost.
4. No diversions. Don’t even think about trying to squeeze in a ride on Toy Story Midway Mania before heading to the Adventure Outpost to sign-up. You’ll find the lines pretty much filled up by the time you get there.
5. Bring comfortable shoes. Though Hollywood Studios is one of the smaller parks, it is still a bit of a trek from Main Gate to the Adventure Outpost. I wouldn’t be making this jaunt in flip-flops or strappy sandals.
6. Prep your kids. One of the criteria in order to be included in Jedi Training is that your child is able to follow simple instructions and won’t be overcome with nerves.
7. Be prepared to pick a time. Once you’ve made the cut and you’re in line to sign up, things speed up really quickly and when you get to the registration desk, you’ll be asked to select a time for the performance you’d like your child to be in.
8. Pay attention to Extra Magic Hours – Imagine the disappointment of arriving at Hollywood Studios an hour before opening time only to find that its Extra Magic Hours, the park is already open and sign-ups for Jedi have already come and gone.

1. At the Jedi Temple, a computer program was created that would pit simulacrums of long dead Jedi and Sith against the prospective Jedi Knights. Using the specialized projectors in the Jedi Trials Chamber, the program would create an opponent that proceeded to attack and taunt the Padawan. Each test was created using specific parameters set by a Jedi Master. If the Padawan was able to defeat the simulacrum, the phantom warrior would dissolve, and the program cut out. After the Temple was left in ruin, the Program went wild. Darth Vader reprogrammed the computer to project not only in the Trials Chamber, but in the Jedi Archives and the High Council Chamber as well. His apprentice Starkiller was able to overcome three different simulacrums, and pass the Trials.

1. The training of students of the Jedi Order changed and evolved over its many millennia of existence. Throughout its history though, the idea of a Master and an Apprentice was consistent; though at times more than one apprentice could be taken by a single Master. Training was harsh and difficult, consisting of nearly two decades of tutelage before an apprentice became a full-fledged Knight. The earliest recorded training methods come from Tython, with the archaic version of the Jedi Trials. Students were tested at their Master's discretion and only achieved Knighthood at their say. Tests such as the ancient Trial of Skill saw students forced to maintain inner peace while enduring stressful challenges, such as balancing upside-down on a post in the midst of a storm. Combat tests with Force-imbued swords and archaic versions of the lightsaberwere extremely difficult and sometimes dangerous. This method of testing was eventually abandoned when it was understood that Masters sometimes pu...

1. Star Wars weekends, with special entertainment from the galaxy far, far away, would descend upon Disney’s Hollywood Studios in late spring/early summers for several years (1997, 2000, 2001, 2003-2015). Disney characters would don disguises based upon the “Star Wars” franchise, villains and heroes would wander the park, celebrities made appearances and special merchandise was offered. Exciting entertainment, like the Hyperspace Hoopla and Jedi Training Academy, also arrived. During the 20-minute mini class, children ages 4 – 12 years old are offered the opportunity to train with a Jedi Master. Clad in Jedi robes, lightsaber in hand (both provided during the exercises), these 16 younglings learn the ways of the force and are taught parrying maneuvers for lightsaber combat. Training was interrupted by the arrival of Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and Stormtroopers. Each student was then guided in how to fend off the villains. Once Maul and/or Vader are defeated and the troopers have fled the...

1. The Jedi trials have been an integral tradition within the Jedi Order since its conception on Tython. Before the formation of the High Council and the mainstreaming of the Jedi academy's teachings, the Trials were highly informal, administered by a Padawan's master and known to be quite harsh and sometimes impossible. As time passed, the trials became slightly more lax and saw a dramatic drop in standards during the New Sith Wars. To rectify this, the High Council formalized five tests, following the Ruusan Reformation, that would be given within the Jedi Trials Chamber in the Coruscant Jedi Temple. Deep in the Temple, the specialized chamber was equipped with a state-of-the-art hologram projector capable of producing tangible simulacrums of ancient Jedi and Sith. In addition to the combat aspect of the Trials, the room was designed to test other skills, many of which were created to replicate the uncertainty a Jedi would face in the field. Overseen by the High Council and the curre...
