6 SkillsFuture Courses Worth Spending Your Credits On

Preview

1. Business English. It is possible, but difficult, to get far in a company with poor English skills. Your colleagues may tolerate the occasional poorly worded email, but it’s hard to become a department head or senior manager if you are still struggling with past and present tenses.
2. Basic Accounting. Accounting is the language of the business world. Whether you hope to run your own business someday, or just to get into management, basic accounting is a must.
3. Skills Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management. Logistics is a complex process that encompasses many aspects, such as the most cost-effective way to get a product to a customer, or how to save costs when looking for suppliers and finding storage solutions.
4. Social Media Management. The days of having a specialised social media manager are coming to an end. Employers increasingly expect other related professions to also have social media management skills.
5. Statistics. Important decision makers must learn to interpret data. If you have no grasp of statistics, you will always struggle when trying to pitch big ideas; it’s hard to convince your bosses to approve million dollar budgets and projects, if you don’t know how to present statistical facts.
6. Coding. Useful for software developers, web designers. Also for self-employed creators or business owners who may want to make their own websites. Can be a useful skill for content creation, marketing, public relations and more.

10 SkillsFuture Courses To Take From Photoshop To Basic

Preview

1. Enhance your photos with basics of Photoshop. Courses from: $21.98. Photoshop can be daunting for first-time users, but courses from UDEMY run you through the basics with lessons on image manipulation, layer creation, and tool selection.
2. Learn a new language like Korean or French. Image credit: @iambonabona. Courses from: $28.99. Whether we want to communicate with friends from other ethnicities, or to understand our favourite K-drama without English subs, learning a new language is always useful.
3. Apply makeup flawlessly. Courses from: $135. We envy the flawless makeup looks on beauty gurus like Jeffree Star, but with a few lessons, you can learn to do them yourselves, too.
4. Equip yourself with barista skills. Image credit: @baristartcoffee_sg. Courses from: $50.96. Pulling, dosing, steaming – to us, they seem like common words, but to the Starbucks barista, it’s all part of the, ahem, daily grind.
5. Make your own flower arrangements. Image credit: one PA. Courses from: $30. Flower arrangement is a delicate art. A single flower may be beautiful on its own, but weave in some fillers like baby’s breath, and you’ve got yourself a pretty centrepiece fit for a gift or your dining table.
6. Groom your dog without going to the vet. Courses from: $270. Our long-haired pups need a monthly grooming session to keep them in tip-top condition, but it can be pretty costly.
7. Arm yourself with self-defence skills. Image credit: Kali Majapahit – Southeast Asian Martial Arts. Courses from: $252. Singapore’s a safe country, but it’s always good to be able to defend yourself physically as you’ll never know when you might run into trouble.
8. Soothe aches with a massage. Courses from: $30. Massages are supposed to be relaxing, but we all know that one “helpful” friend whose idea of a massage is to press down on your bones like their life depends on it.
9. Improve your photography skills. Courses from: $107. Taking good photos is harder than it looks, which is why basic photography courses from NTUC LearningHub are a godsend.
10. Give yourself salon-worthy hairstyles. Courses from: $88.20. For some of us, the most intricate thing we can do with our hair is to plait it or throw it into a messy bun.
