2. Create a regular schedule. Puppies have small bladders. They can only hold it for so long before they have an accident. What I'm trying to say is that accidents are inevitable when toilet training a dog.
3. Reward the good, and NEVER punish. One of the best potty training tricks for dogs is to never punish the dog for having an accident. Dog trainers and experts in the pet industry used to tell owners to “rub their dog's nose in it” if they had an accident inside.
4. Crate training. When done properly, crate training provides a safe, comfortable space for your dog to be when you can't keep an eye on him. You can use a crate to secure your dog so that he doesn't have the opportunity to have accidents when you’re not looking.
5. Be patient and don't blame the dog. House breaking a dog will take time, and the process itself might potentially get frustrating and annoying, but you must stay consistent.
6. Have a designated “potty spot” I saved the best potty training tricks for dogs for last. In my opinion, having a designated “potty spot” outside is the most important trick to house training your pet.

1. Use The Crate. Remember the adage “proper preparation prevents poor performance.” This phrase couldn’t be more true when it comes to potty training your dog.
2. Get Your Dog On A Feeding Schedule. The very next tips for dog Potty training to consider is getting your dog on a feeding schedule! That means eliminating any sort of “free feeding.”
3. Create a Potty Schedule. The next phase is ensuring that your pup gets a consistent outlet to go potty in the location you do want. In the very beginning the more opportunities you give your dog to go “potty” the fewer chances your pup will have an accident at home.
4. Stay Consistent. Consistency is the number factor that determines how fast your pup becomes “potty trained” If you want your pup to be consistent and reliable when it comes to going “potty” YOU as your pup’s owner have to be consistent when it comes to potty training in the first place.
5. Guide Don’t Punish. If this is your pup’s first time learning where to go potty and where not to go potty, then we want to avoid punishing your pup for mistakes early on.
6. Reward, Reward, Reward. Rewards play a major role in communicating to a dog or puppy that they did something correctly. Remember dogs don’t speak our language, so we must capture the moments when your pup makes good decisions so that in the future your dog will continue to perform behaviors you want like going potty in the correct location.
7. Keep A Tracker. The best way to begin fine-tuning the times that your pup has to go potty is to keep a tracker and write down all the times your dog goes “potty”

1. Introduce your new pup to its new home, family and their role. Just like when you are new to a place or group, your new pet may be bursting with curiosity, excitement, fear or joy. Now is the best time to lay out the foundation for a good and pleasant relationship with your pet. For a puppy to settle in and learn to trust and respect you and everyone at home, it is very important to establish your expectations of your puppy and be consistent with them. Only show your pet the areas where they are allowed to be. Initially do not let your new pet roam and explore on their own, especially, if you don't want them to do their business there. For example, if the upstairs area or bedrooms are off limits, close them off and do not allow your puppy to explore there.
2. Understand your puppy's particular breed behavior and needs. Research your dogs breed traits and special needs or any behavior that you should be aware of and look out for. For example, If your puppy is a tiny little chihuahua, their bladder will be very small and they will need to urinate more frequently; accidents will happen even if they are well trained. Although most dogs are highly intelligent, they don't think like humans do. It is often a problem when we expect them to understand simple command words or tell you that they need to pee or poop. For this reason, you must be willing to understand how they communicate with you and study the clues they give and get from you.
3. Keep an eye on your puppy. While potty training, it is ideal to keep your puppy where you can watch it at all times. This will allow you to look for early signs that it needs to go and help to prevent accidents. Signs when they might go are when they start circling, scratching, and sniffing. Some of the signs to look for include whining, circling, sniffing, barking, or any sudden behavior change. When you see any of these signs, immediately lead the dog outside.
4. Interrupt accidents. If you catch your puppy in the act of urinating or defecating indoors, make a sudden noise such as a clap, and say the word "no." Then, quickly lead the dog outside. You want to startle but not to scare the dog. The intent here is to get their immediate attention and know that you disapprove marking or pooping indoors. You also want to be consistent, using the same word and/or noise each time. You may not get the same result if the dog is defecating, because most puppies will not be able to stop this. But, you should still do the same thing as part of the teaching process. Never punish your puppy for accidents. The dog does not know it is doing anything wrong. Do not force your puppy to smell or keep reminding them of their actions. They will not remember and could possibly become scared of you. When you use punishment to stop them from going indoors it can confuse your dog and even make it worse. Your dog could only understand that you get mad when you see them po

1. Puppy Pee Pads. These are great to use for puppies, and older dogs that have moved to a new household. When I was a new dog owner, I stayed away from these because I really didn’t believe they worked.
2. Puppy Breed. If you don't have much patience with potty training a puppy, breed matters. Some breeds are easier to house train than others. This can be because of issues with intelligence, stubbornness, territory, etc.
3. Start Training Early. Just because a canine’s bladder is not developed at a young age does not mean you wait to begin potty training a puppy. The earlier you start, the better.
4. Crate Training a Puppy. Dogs do not like to poop and pee where they sleep. For this reason, many people potty train their puppies using the dog crate training method.
5. Keep Track of Time. One of the biggest things to remember is to keep track of time. How long were you gone? Did you pee while you were gone? If you did, chances are, your dog needed to as well.
6. Consistency. Choose a method that works for you and stick with it. Your canine friend will get confused if you are strict one day, and lazy the next. When your puppy is young, you will need to get up at night and let her potty.
7. Know Your Dog. Pay attention to your dog. Just like people, dogs have different personalities and needs. Just because most puppies go right after eating, and most dogs 30 minutes after, does not mean that yours will.
8. Potty on Command. I have a big fenced in yard, so my dogs go out when they want. The ability to potty on command is great for people who live in apartments or take their dogs to public places.

1. Potty Training Tip #1 Use Crate. You can use a crate so as to house train your dog and keep an eye on his specific needs. This is an excellent way to identify when your dog needs to go and to teach your friend to hold it until you open the crate.
2. Potty Training Tip #2 Learn How To Control Their Bladder. 15 minutes after eating, drinking and playing it is more likely to use the bathroom. Therefore, after any activity, you need to give your puppy the opportunity to go to the bathroom.
3. Potty Training Tip #3 The Outside Bathroom. When you go for a bathroom break, make sure you have a treat with you in order to reward your dog if he manages to go to the bathroom within the first 5 minutes.
4. Potty Training Tip #4 Watch Over Your Puppy. It is important to be alert at all times in order to watch him over. If you prevent any accidents, it is more likely to continue the potty training with success, rather than starting all over again.
5. Potty Training Tip #5 Dos and Don’t’s. Do not punish your dog whenever he fails to go to the bathroom. Your puppy will fear you and never actually succeed.

1. Supervise. “She always seems to go the second I look away!” I usually recommend tethering dogs to you or a nearby solid piece of furniture (unless you have a giant breed, then you may need to drill in a tether point).
2. Crate-train your dog. Most dogs can be taught to love spending time relaxing in their crates, and crate training can be a wonderful thing when potty training dogs.
3. Clean up after previous accidents. Don’t overlook this when potty training dogs. A lot of dogs will eliminate at the scene of previous accidents over and over again.
4. Give lots of opportunities to potty. The more chances your dog gets to “go” outside, the more likely she will be to learn quickly and get it right more often!
5. Reinforce good behavior. When potty training dogs, give your dog a treat immediately every time she eliminates outside. She should be on a leash, right next to you, and you should always have treats (something she really likes -– for your dog, a “treat” may even be the toss of a tennis ball).
6. Don’t punish. If you catch your dog in the act, a quick “oops!” followed by scooping her up and taking her outside to finish is your best bet. If the accident already happened, clean it up, but don’t punish your dog.
7. Make arrangements for long-term confinement. It is unethical to expect dogs of any age to hold bowel or bladder movements longer than they are physically able, and then to get angry with them for having accidents.
8. Know when your dog needs to go. Remember — when potty training dogs, your pup provides cues, too. Dogs don’t usually have a good “poker face” -– most dogs offer pre-elimination behaviors or cues.
9. Feed on a schedule. Dogs who eat on a schedule generally poop on a schedule. Free feeding can make potty training dogs a challenge. Barring medical problems, even old dogs can learn new tricks and better manners.

1. Choose a proper period to start potty training. Usually, a puppy needs 4-6 months to be fully house trained. Small breeds are famous for their smaller bladders and higher metabolisms.
2. Use a defined indoor space. If you are busy and cannot supervise your pup all day long, choose small areas such as a crate or a confined space in a room.
3. Establish a rigorous and healthy diet. A proper diet will make it easier for you to potty train your little fellow. Puppies have fragile digestive systems that can’t face chaotic meals.
4. Stick to a consistent schedule. A consistent feeding schedule accelerates the formation of good potty habits and gets puppies on the right track more quickly.
5. Take your pup outside as often as you can. Puppies are well-known for their small bladders and frequent trips outdoors. Young puppies have to be taken out to pee and poo many times a day: early in the morning, late at night, after waking up from a nap, eating and drinking, and sometimes even after chewing a toy.
6. Pick certain spots outdoors. When taking your pup outdoors, choose a specific spot for your puppy to defecate. Your pup will remember it afterward by using his own scent.
7. Make sure he's physically active. Exercise goes hand in hand with other tactics used to get a well-rounded and fully house-trained pup. Walks and play sessions, both indoors and outdoors, are highly recommended to keep your puppy motivated, consume his energy and stay healthy, both physically and mentally.
8. Pay close attention to your pup. Watch your pup carefully to spot his own signs of wanting to defecate and try to spot some patterns. Each pup is unique in his own way and some of them need to be taken out more often than others.
9. Use positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement and an assertive attitude are the keys to get effective results. Praising your pup for doing things right will make him repeat the same actions, so reward him with cookies and positive words when he or she eliminates in the right spot.
10. Keep your calm when accidents happen. As explained above, if your pup has an accident, clean the mess quickly and use special cleaners to remove the odors and to prevent further incidents.
