Preview For what it's worth, an unlicensed user account can manipulate and access SharePoint as well (lists, libraries, pages, etc) if they have the right permissions assigned. SharePoint itself doesn't seem to actually care about the license but the permissions assignment from the UPN.

The only difference I can see with a licensed user is that on the top left bar (the menu is empty of course), there is Office 365 but not SharePoint after written.
